Fleming, a Scottish bacteriologist was born on the 6th August 1881. Fleming served in “Royal Army Medical Corps” during World War I. He conducted many researches on substances which are antibiotic in nature and that are non toxic to humans. In the year 1928, penicillin was discovered when he noticed that bacterial growth was inhibited by a mold contaminating a bacterial culture. In 1945 he shared the Nobel Prize with Ernst Boris Chain and Howard Watter Florey. This is because the other two continued Fleming’s researches which include isolation, purification, testing and the production of penicillin in quantity. He died on the year 1955 in London.
